Our Work

Activity

From classrooms to mehfil stages, from printing presses to social feeds — the many ways Jashn-e-Hindustan keeps Urdu flourishing.

Six Streams of Work

What the Initiative Does

Every programme we run belongs to one of six streams — each one a different door into the world of Urdu. Some open onto a stage, some onto a page, and some onto a classroom where a reed pen touches paper for the first time.

The Six Streams

01

Language & Learning

Urdu promotion campaigns, online learning programmes for students across India and the world, and workshops, seminars and training for teachers, researchers and enthusiasts.

02

Festivals & Mehfils

Mushairas, qawwali nights, literary festivals and cultural events that bring Urdu poetry, literature and art to the stage — and to new audiences.

03

Publishing & Research

Books, magazines and digital content; research and documentation of Urdu's history and contributions; translation projects that open the literature to wider readerships.

04

Competitions & Awards

Essay, poetry, storytelling, debate, calligraphy and speech contests for young talent — and recognition for distinguished writers, poets, educators and translators.

05

Youth & Community

Youth engagement initiatives, community outreach programmes and digital-media campaigns that connect Urdu with the younger generation through modern technology.

06

Institutions & Dialogue

Collaborations with universities, schools, madrasas and cultural organisations, and national and international conferences promoting research and global appreciation of Urdu.
